Make a Lasting Difference

for the Salish Sea

Your legacy can inspire generations of students to fall in love with the sea, protect threatened marine species, and become lifelong advocates for our shared home. By including The Salish Sea School in your long-term giving plans, you ensure that the magic of marine conservation education continues to reach students from all backgrounds—today and far into the future.

A Gift in Your Will or Living Trust

A simple, powerful way to support The Salish Sea School is by including a gift in your will or living trust. This type of gift can be changed at any time and remains under your control during your lifetime. You may choose to give a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or a particular asset.

For sample bequest language, we suggest:

"I give, devise, and bequeath to The Salish Sea School, a nonprofit organization incorporated in the state of Washington, tax identification number 83-3277816, the sum of $___ (or describe the specific asset or percentage of your estate), to be used for its general educational and conservation purposes (or name a specific program if you prefer)."

A Gift from Your IRA or Other Retirement Plans

Retirement assets, like IRAs or 401(k)s, are often subject to income tax when passed to heirs. However, when donated directly to a nonprofit like The Salish Sea School, they can be transferred tax-free. Naming us as a full or partial beneficiary of your retirement plan is a wonderful way to protect marine wildlife and inspire future stewards.

A Gift of Life Insurance

Have a life insurance policy you no longer need? Donating it to The Salish Sea School can result in meaningful tax benefits and allow you to make a larger impact than you may have thought possible. You can also name The Salish Sea School as a beneficiary on an existing policy.

A Gift from a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF)

You can recommend a grant to The Salish Sea School from your donor-advised fund today—or name us as a beneficiary to support our mission in the future. Either option helps sustain our educational programs and student-led conservation efforts for years to come.
