Open Position:
FUN AND IMPACTFUL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY, ONE WEEK THIS SUMMER

Description: The Salish Sea School, in collaboration with GEAR UP, is seeking to hire two mentors from June 24-28, 2024.
​
Guardianes del Mar is a five-day boat and island-based program designed to spark interest in marine ecosystems and highlight the connections between water quality, marine life, and human impacts.
​
Students will participate in hands-on learning experiences, sea adventures, and field investigations to deepen their knowledge and appreciation for the Salish Sea's unique habitats and the species that inhabit them.
​
This week-long summer program was designed to provide a cohort of 30 rising Latinx 8th-grade students in the Skagit Valley with the opportunity to learn about and study the Salish Sea.
​
Mentors will help support students in and around the Salish Sea onsite in Anacortes.
​
Mentors will be supported and supervised by staff from The Salish Sea School and GEAR UP school district staff.
One day of two hours of virtual training at least one week before the program will be required.
